Build a fair economy for all
If tech billionaires, Wall Street, and big banks drive us into a financial crisis, we say no to bailing them out while we all pay the price
- No bailouts with public money for Big Tech, AI companies, data center speculators– or the Wall Street firms financing them
- Focus resources on the people and communities hurt by a crash
- Hold firms and executives accountable wherever they break the law
- Make finance work for us instead of against us
- Our families and communities should shape the future of technology – to benefit us, not Silicon Valley tech oligarchs
- Take action NOW to stop the danger from growing.
Tech billionaires are hurting our communities
Billionaire tech oligarchs are spinning up AI behemoths, surveilling and squeezing workers, threatening our jobs, building out of control AI models that threaten our neighbors, our public infrastructure, and private information, and rushing to build data centers while our communities face cuts to services and crumbling infrastructure.
Wall Street is helping set the stage for a major crash
Wall Street is helping the AI industry cut circular deals, borrow trillions of dollars in risky, private credit, and puff up their IPOs to fuel a giant, speculative bubble. Speculative data center investments financed by massive debt and skyrocketing stock prices are creating intensifying risks in the economy, threatening workers’ retirement savings and economic stability overall.
Government is complicit and must change course
While our families face an affordability crisis and threats to our jobs, Federal, state, and local governments are handing out tax breaks, lucrative contracts, and regulatory carveouts to big tech. In Washington, the Administration is rolling back safeguards, accountability, and transparency for Wall Street, making a dangerous crisis with impacts beyond AI and the tech sector more likely.
The math isn’t adding up
Big Tech oligarchs are getting rich while spending money they don’t have and inflating a bubble—spending nearly one trillion dollars on AI expansion and data centers but only bringing in just a fraction of that. If they can’t pay back their skyrocketing debts, a crash could follow. Meanwhile, industry insiders are finding multiple ways to push the risks and costs off onto working families and older adults trying to retire with dignity.
A financial crisis is looming
Risky, speculative and tricky financing means an AI crash could become a much broader financial crisis. The bubble is increasingly showing signs of weakness, and AI executives have already floated the idea of a bailout for themselves.
We've seen this before
We’ve seen this in past financial crashes, like in 2008. Wall Street got rich inflating a bubble: when it crashed the big banks got bailed out and the rest of us paid a massive and lasting price in lost jobs and lost homes and lost savings. But it doesn't have to be that way.
This time, our government needs to rescue us, not Big Tech and Wall Street.
In a crisis, here’s what we demand:
- No bailouts with public money for Big Tech, AI companies, data center speculators– or the Wall Street firms financing them.
- Focus resources on the people and communities hurt by a crash.
- Hold firms and executives accountable wherever they break the law.
- Make finance work for us instead of against us.
- Our families and communities should shape the future of technology - to benefit us, not Silicon Valley tech oligarchs.
- Take action NOW to stop the danger from growing.
